Regarded as one of the most innovative and creative designers working today, Dutch designer Hella Jongerius explores new visions for design, craft, art and technology in her products for everyday life. Using industrial processes and archetypal forms, Jongerius creates unique pieces in a variety of media ? ceramics, glass, textiles, furniture ? occasionally combining media to surprising effect. Shot on location in Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Makkum, New York and Indianapolis, Hella Jongerius: Contemporary Archetypes follows the designer and her assistants as they work on several projects and also features interviews with manufacturers, curators and retailers who admire her work. The film offers an intimate perspective on the creative process and illuminates the singular talent of Ms. Jongerius as she navigates from past to present and across traditional expectations in design.
