D: Francoise Huguier

It was during Françoise Huguier?s first trip to Siberia in 1991, while she was in St. Petersburg, that she was struck by Kommunalka, a peculiar mode of coexistence. The desire to discover and explore this urban form of proximity and coexistence was subsequently imposed on Françoise Huguier. To escape the posture of the story, she decided to rent a room in one of these communal apartments and live there. “While living there, I took pictures of the residents. Years later, haunted by my former neighbors, I decided to return to film their daily lives.” (F. Huguier)
